Join us in an all new venue for the 12th Annual Celebration of Women
and an entertaining performance by
Minton Sparks.
Minton weaves the elements of music, drama, storytelling and poetry while
drawing upon her southern traditions as inspiration for her
stories. Her unique brand of poetry and music was recently
featured nationally on NPR’s All Things Considered and
internationally on the BBC’s Bob Harris Show. In 2006 she opened
for John Prine, toured the Eastern seaboard with Rodney Crowell
and performed at the 2006 Americana music festival MerleFest, to
thunderous applause. Accompanying Minton is guitar virtuoso John
Jackson, who is returning from a stint on Broadway with the Twyla Tharp
musical production of Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are a-Changin’.
Celebration of Women is the Women's Center of Jacksonville's annual fundraiser.
