A local survivor of domestic and sexual violence needs your help. Last October, a survivor came into our facility after her boyfriend of 4 years violently sexually assaulted her. After the assault, he began to try to kill her by cutting her throat. She was able to get away from him but not before sustaining injuries to her hand and leg, leaving her in the hospital for 3 days.
Due to her injuries our survivor is unable to attend work in the service field and was denied disability. We have partnered with local resources such as the Hubbard House, Victims Services, the Food Pantry and many local churches to help assist with bills. Our resources have run dry and we are asking for your help to raise $5,000.00. These funds will keep the survivor and her 2 children with running lights, gas, water, groceries and rent. She will be able to return to work in May, but until then she has a long hard road to recovery both mentally and physically. Assisting her with bills for this month until May will lift one of the many worries from her heart.
Experiencing sexual violence can change a survivor’s view of the world. Whether or not the survivor suffers any physical injuries, the emotional impact of the violence can be significant as well. We offer endless support for survivors and their loved ones. During our survivor’s hard times, her advocate has spent over 75 hours on her case. We understand that every second counts and are providing as much support as possible as the trial against her assailant arrives. Every penny donated is greatly appreciated.
