Salary: $31,200.00 to $33,280.00 /year
JOB TITLE: FAMILY LITERACY ADVOCATE
JOB SUMMARY: The Family Literacy Advocate provides direct and indirect services to program participants in the Expanded Horizons Education Program. Will perform outreach activities to engage women in the program, to include group activities in high risk areas; conduct intake interviews with new clients; develop, implement, and review case plans; facilitate workshops; connect clients with appropriate services; make referrals and follow up contacts; monitor attendance, document and track progress in the program; and collaborate with co-workers to support the client. As needed, a level of interaction with children to improve family literacy through reading, hand and fingers skills, speech and language development/communication to preschool/school-age education.
CREDENTIALS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Women’s Studies, or related field
Minimum of 2 years case management experience
Ability to develop positive relationships with individuals, families and children
Proficiency in Microsoft computer programs
Effective written and communication skills
Experience working in low income, diverse communities
RATE OF PAY: $15-16/Hour
HOURS OF WORK: Monday & Thursday 12-8pm,
Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 8:30-4:30
